Gemnants - First Auction! [closed]

Description

So the other day I had a really bad night's sleep and while I was trying to doze off (and failing), I came up with an idea for a 'new' species. They're a cousin species to aetherlings, and for now I'll be calling them gemnants (at least until I think of a better name oops). They will also be eligible to participate in aetherling events and prompts!! I decided to make an auction for them since I could really use the money to get me through finals, and also to potentially cover for my first month's rent over the summer!! 'v '

-------

Background:
Aetherlings are known to regularly shed their bodily crystals, which are each imbued with a small part of the aetherling's elemental magic. Myth tells that sometimes, when a crystal ends up in just the right place where magic is charged, over time the crystal may begin to take a life of its own. Normally the process takes many centuries - however, if a living aetherling's crystal is taken to a place, called a "sacred fount", where the world's elemental magic is strongest, it may sprout new life in a matter of hours.

Although the crystal loses the essence of its original owner, it instead gathers pure elemental magic to fuel itself, and when the time is right, a new life form emerges from the crystal - a gemnant. These creatures, no bigger than a chicken nugget, are born with the mentality of babies, with an insatiable curiosity, a love of mischief, and a penchant for bumping into things and destroying breakable objects. While some aetherlings find gemnants mindless or annoying, others find their behaviors endearing, and might even take them in as familiars, or even try to raise them as their own.

While most gemnants don't grow out of their young, playful behavior, rarely one will continue to gather and build its magic reserves over many years, eventually growing into an elder gemnant. These individuals are large and powerful, every bit as intelligent and capable as an aetherling, and masters of magic in their own right.

All gemnants have backs lined with crystalline projections, pudgy bodies with long tails (suitable for a lifetime of floating about!), and their "origin crystal" suspended by magic above their heads! Normally the crystal cannot be separated from them unless with powerful magic - if a gemnant somehow loses its origin crystal, it will slowly wither away and die. ;;

Anyway, onto the auction!! I wasn't sure quite how to price these, but here goes! I definitely plan on making more of these babes, since they were SO fun to paint! <3

Dream Nugget
SB: $30
AB: $200
Owner:
:iconfumi-lex:
Aether
This playful, whimsical child was born from a long-lost aether crystal, left behind in a dusty corner of a child's bedroom. After many generations of young dreamers leaving behind traces of their imaginations, this gemnant was created.

Realgar
SB: $30
AB: $200
Owner:
:iconmiss-bowtie:
Fire
Wild and energetic, this gemnant crawled its way out from deep within the molten earth. Its crystals contain high levels of natural arsenic, so long-term exposure to the skin isn't recommended.

Aetherlings and Gemnants are closed species belonging to me, corviture!
